GSI says to get a head start on grain system maintenance

2021 is just not a normal year. As we come out of the pandemic, we are still going to be feeling the effects of it for some time. We see it in the businesses that are looking everywhere for help. We see it in reduced hours. We see it in the restaurants that plan to continue delivery services that they only started because of COVID-19. We are also seeing it in the availability of some parts and materials.

Because of this, GSI is telling producers to not hold off on inspecting their grain system. There may be shortages of some equipment and parts, and you don?t want to be caught waiting when harvest rolls around.

AUDIO: Full Interview with GSI’s Gary Woodruff

Gary Woodruff is a District Manager for GSI. He talks about the challenges that they are facing with slow supply chains for parts and replacement pieces. He says that waiting too long for your inspections could cost you later on.

Woodruff says that this has been a heavy year for sales. Many farmers in Iowa are replacing damaged sections from the derecho. Around other parts of the country, producers are using pandemic relief funds to upgrade their systems.

Woodruff says he is not trying to cause any panic. He says that all their dealers have the parts they think that they are going to need. He says we don?t look like we are going to have an abnormal harvest year. However, there may be a few pieces that may become very highly demanded.

Woodruff runs down a list of what you should be checking and repairing now, to keep ahead of any possible shortages later this year.
