Yesterday, while the NAFB attended Washington Watch, House Ag Committee Chairman GT Thompson released a framework for the House Version of the Farm Bill, and Senate Ag Committee Chairwoman released the full Senate version.

Both addressed the NAFB members in attendance shortly afterward.

Thompson addressed concerns that the priorities in a Republican majority Ag Committee would include cuts to SNAP. Thompson said that he had no plans of doing that.

More details of the House framework of the Farm Bill will be coming on May 23rd.

Later in the morning, Senator Debbie Stabenow released her full version of the Senate Farm Bill. She gave broadcasters an overview.

Stabenow also talked about funding for conservation, research, and more.

There are a lot of differences still to be ironed out between the House and Senate versions of the bill. Congressman Thompson says he is hopeful it can be done.

More reactions and information will be coming in the weeks ahead.
