Soil tests are a good way for farmers to see what they need when it comes to making improvements to their fertility program.
There are multiple benefits to testing soil but with input costs very high, targeted use of inputs can make a big difference to your bottom line.
That?s Sam McCord, AgriGold agronomist. He says farmers who have dealt with drought this growing season could have high soil nitrates in the fall. That could mean they need less fertilizer in 2023 and soil testing can help to find those answers.
McCord says soil tests can give a producer information to make an informed yield goal and then help to determine what types of fertility are needed.
