Planning for next growing season with crop protection inputs

by | Nov 3, 2022 | 5 Ag Stories, News

The last several years have created many problems for American industry and manufacturers. Supply chain disruptions, labor shortages, parts and resource scarcity, and many other factors have made for a bumpy road in production. The ag industry has not been exempt from these challenges and they are not going away in the near future.

Vern Hawkins, president of crop protection at Syngenta, says that farmers need to be thinking ahead to next growing season and beyond. Crop protection inputs could be facing some shortages in active ingredients in the next several months and having a plan for how to get those resources on hand is important.

Hawkins says that there are a number of factors that are combining to create potential shortages in needed crop protection tools.

In addition to worries of shortages in active ingredients for crop protection products, Hawkins says that governmental regulations regarding use of inputs is something that farmers need to be aware of.

Syngenta spends a lot of time and resources on research and development when creating new products to the market so planning ahead is something the company has already done for many years.

According to Syngenta research, it takes more than $280 million dollars and 12 years of research to bring just one new product to market.
