The Heartland Greenway Project is a carbon capture project that is going to be crossing approximately 1,300 miles of the Midwest, including about 900 miles worth of Iowa. This is not a new technology, but it is new to the Midwest. The goal is to work with ethanol and fertilizer facilities to capture CO2 in its gaseous form and converts it to a liquid form to be moved. Earlier this week another important agreement was reached with Iowa?s largest fertilizer facility.

Elizabeth Burns-Thompson is Vice President of Government and Public Affairs for Navigator CO2 Ventures LLC. She runs down once again how the project will accomplish its goals, and how the Iowa Fertilizer Company (OCI) will be a part of it.

Burns-Thompson talks about the benefits of having the Heartland Greenway Project.

There are informational meetings being held in Iowa to inform the public and answer questions about the project in the proposed path.

You can find a list of those meeting options here.
