Farming can be a risky and dangerous business. Taxes can provide obstacles for farmers who are passing land down to the next generation, and the high price of machinery can lead some farmers to operate with equipment that can’t protect them from rollovers. Iowa Congressman Randy Feenstra recently provided an update on some legislation to address these issues and said he is focused on tackling the death tax.
Feenstra said this legislation would keep foreign interests from purchasing farmland and keep that land in the hands of farmers who will take care of it.
Feenstra said he is also working on legislation that would provide a rebate for tractor rollover gear, allowing farmers to retrofit their cabs with the necessary means to keep them safe from accidents.
