Fall is the time to start planning for next year?s weed management

by | Oct 25, 2022 | 5 Ag Stories, News

We?re a month into fall already, and harvest is continuing to progress at a good rate. While it may feel early to think about this, it?s time to start to make a plan on how to manage weeds next year. Corteva Market Development Specialist Will Tubbs said there?s a variety of weeds that Iowa producers need to worry about.

When it comes to weed management, Tubbs said that preventing them from establishing in the first place is key.

Weeds are well known for their ability to quickly become resistant to certain modes of action, so Tubbs said it?s important to change up your strategy occasionally.

Tubbs said it?s sometimes even worth using a fall application to get a head start on targeted weeds.

Right now is a good time to pay attention to which weeds survived the summer and what management methods worked best. Tubbs said farmers can even take notes while they are in the combine during harvest.

Tubbs added that Corteva has many options for fall weed management.
