Roughly 200 world leaders are gathered in Glasgow Scotland for the COPS26 summit. Climate change is the topic at these meetings. World leaders are talking about committing to many carbon-reducing plans and targets to slow global warming from dangerous levels. All eyes are on some of the big players when it comes to pollution, including China and India.

The United States is by no means innocent in any of this, but steps have been taken and plans are being talked about on many fronts. One of those plans is in carbon markets for agriculture and carbon sequestration. Many companies have put forth plans which farmers can take advantage of for their operation.

American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall says that carbon markets must be attractive to entice farmers to take part. Economics plays an important role.

Duvall adds that carbon markets must work for smaller farms as well. It won?t be successful if it only benefits the large farming operations.

Duvall says that it is also high time that farmers be recognized for the work they have already been doing, not just lumped in with a few bad apples.
