Access to E15 could save drivers billions

In the debate over ethanol and its availability, we have talked about restrictions on when it can be sold and even where it is sold. Proponents of E15 have said that they aren?t trying to force anyone to use the fuel, they just want customers to have a choice. It seems like a logical argument. What is the harm in making it available? Programs and legislation have been used to make funds available to gas stations to upgrade pumps and equipment. Now, a new study is showing the savings that are possible.

Growth Energy released the results of a study yesterday that was conducted by ABF Economics. It found that just by having access to the fuel, drivers could be saving billions. Chris Bliley is the Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for Growth Energy. He talks about the highlights of that study.

Bliley says it is critical to make E15 available as an option for American consumers. Budgets are tight across the board, and not having the option to save money even be offered, is hurting American consumers.

Bliley added that states are taking it upon themselves to break through the deadlock of getting E15 year-round. They are using a part of the clear-air act to work around EPA?s slow movement on getting year-round E15 back.
