For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ?Yes? in Christ. And so through him the ?Amen? is spoken by us to the glory of God. -2 Corinthians 1:20
I am often surrounded by parents who are constantly telling their kids no, whether that be in grocery stores or church foyers.
Usually the no results in screaming, crying, pouting, or sulking.
Sometimes I think we can spiritually act like these kids who are told no by their parents.
When God doesn’t give us what we want we tend to cry, pout, sulk, and occasionally even doubt His goodness.
We have a good Father in God, who, just like a good earthly father, desires to give His children what?s best for them later even if He has to say no to something they want right now.
What if we believed that even when He said no, it was because He was really saying yes?
What if we trusted His heart, even when His hand seemingly withholds the very thing we so desire?
What if we chose to celebrate all of the previous yes answers He?s given us despite His current no?
When God gives a no, it’s because He’s protecting from less than His best.
God is always good and although He doesn?t always give us what we want, He always gives me what He knows we need.
God has said no because He had a greater yes in store!
Prayer: “God, thank you for all the no’s that you have placed in my life because of all the things you were saying yes to. Thank you for knowing my better than I know myself. Help me to trust your yes and no.”
