Many of us remember very clearly the effects of the 2020 derecho, and some parts of the state are still dealing with damages. Cedar Rapids was hit the worst by the devastating storm, which caused over $11 billion in total damage. At the end of last month, Iowa 1st District Congresswoman announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding $3.5 million to the city of Cedar Rapids for continued derecho relief efforts.
Overall, Hinson has announced $57.6 million in derecho relief for Linn County. Our state depends on its communities in order to be successful, so Hinson said it?s important to provide aid where it?s needed and let the farmers farm.
