Last week, Farmland, in a joint effort with the National Pork Board, the Iowa Pork Producers Association, and country singer Luke Bryan?s Farm Tour to combat food insecurity across the Midwest for their Honoring the Heartland Tour, visited the Food Bank of Iowa in Des Moines to donate over 30,000 pounds of protein and present the Iowa FFA Association with a $9,000 donation. What better time to make such a large donation of pork than during National Pork Month? Iowa Pork Producers Association President-Elect Trish Cook talked about how their partnership with Farmland has helped to highlight Iowa?s pork industry during #Porktober22.

Cook said that, with corn and soybeans- the two main feedstuffs for pigs- so prominent in the state, there aren?t many places that are better for pork production than Iowa.

Everybody was excited to be able to give back to the community at last week?s event, and Cook said that?s a great representation of Iowa?s pork industry.

Of course, the food donation wasn?t the only thing going on. Farmland also presented a $9,000 donation to the Iowa FFA Association. Cook said the ag students of today are tomorrow?s industry leaders, so it?s important to continue to support them.

Cook added that they?ll be celebrating #Porktober22 with many promotions that people can look forward to.
