Diversification is key when it comes to business and trade opportunities. The more options you have, the stronger your business can be. When it comes to trade, that means promoting our products and helping others develop the means to produce them in not-so-hospitable regions is essential to global food security.
Recently leaders from the United Soybean Board (USB), the American Soybean Association (ASA), and the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) traveled to Cambodia to talk about aquaculture. The groups sponsored the third International Sustainable Agricultural Intensification and Nutrition Conference. Gena Perry is the Executive Director of WISHH. She says that this was another great opportunity to talk about U.S. soy as a food security solution.
Perry also talked about how helping Cambodians develop aquaculture opportunities was a great way to help their population and promote our soy products.
Gerry Hayden is the Chair of WISHH. He added that the progress that has been made already since his first trip to Cambodia has been amazing.
ASA President Brad Doyle was also in attendance and talked with Cambodian Farmers about soy and aquaculture during roundtable events.
The group also met with researchers, industry professionals, and students to discuss increasing opportunities for sustainable agriculture, and increasing nutritional value while fueling economic growth.
