The U.S. pork industry is staying vigilant when it comes to foreign animal diseases. Dr. Meredith Petersen, director of swine health for the National Pork Board, said they’re keeping an eye on multiple diseases, including African Swine Fever.
Petersen said African Swine Fever is closer than it’s been to U.S. borders in some time, so preparation is vital.
While it may not be top of mind right now, African Swine Fever is still spreading just like any other foreign animal disease.
