At this year’s National FFA Convention, an Iowa FFA member was recognized for going above and beyond in their agriscience research. Tessa Tauke, from the Beckman Catholic FFA Chapter in Dyersville, Iowa, was named as this year’s National FFA American Star Award Winner in Agriscience. Tauke said she has conducted several projects on a variety of issues she encountered on her family’s farm.

Tauke said she was able to tackle increasingly challenging topics over the years of her projects.

Tauke, who is now a student in the vet med program at Iowa State University, said her research helped her choose her college major.

Overall, Tauke said FFA has played a major role in her development as a person, and she encourages all students to give the organization a shot, even if they don’t have an agriculture background.
