Enrollment is open now for the Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI) Cover Crop Business Accelerator program, with applications being accepted on a rolling basis. The program, which started in 2020, offers tailored business coaching, technical guidance, and financial incentives and supports the cover crop seed and application businesses who, in turn, promote the continued adoption of cover crop practices. Ann Krause, PFI senior field crops business coordinator, oversees the program, and she said there is a good amount of variability in businesses.
Krause said the program creates a bit of a snowball effect- as more of these businesses develop, more Iowa farmers are adopting additional cover crop practices.
Since farmers and cover crop businesses are able to bounce ideas off of each other, Krause said there are many different ways for members to benefit from the Cover Crop Business Accelerator.
