The Motorcade for Trade is traveling across the country to highlight the issues that farmers are facing in the current ag economy due to tariff challenges and shifting export markets. Ally McKone, Farmers for Free Trade representative with the Motorcade for Trade, said they spent about a week in Iowa.
McKone said it’s been incredibly valuable to get the perspectives of local farmers who are dealing with these issues.
Brian Kuehl, executive director of Farmers for Free Trade, said farmers aren’t bracing for a farm crisis- it’s already here.
Kuehl said farmers are always prepared for the potential of economic hardship, but that doesn’t mean their challenges can be ignored.
