Markets are looking for news as government shutdown persists

There’s no clear end in sight yet for this government shutdown, and the markets are desperately looking for news headlines to trade. While there are a few things worth looking at, there’s not much solid news to trade on even outside of government reports. Allendale commodity broker Greg McBride said that the markets are hoping to hear news from President Trump’s trade meetings.

The markets are also missing out on trading on any potential yield news, but McBride said the USDA generally doesn’t make yield adjustments at this time since harvest is still going on.

McBride said the average guess for this week’s export sales projected great corn sales once again and even more disappointing soybean exports.
