Earlier this week, Fareway Stores made a donation of approximately 69,000 pounds of variety hams to the Food Bank of Iowa. The full retail value of this donation is $297,961.61, and that donation will quickly make it to food-insecure Iowans across the state. Annette Hacker, chief communications and strategy officer at the Food Bank of Iowa, said they are thrilled to receive a donation of such a high-quality protein.
Hacker said Fareway is a long-term partner of the Food Bank of Iowa, and that partnership has done wonders to meet the needs of Iowans who don’t know when they will get their next meal.
Per the request of the donor, Hacker said the hams will be split up between the Food Bank of Iowa, Food Bank of Siouxland, and River Bend Food Bank.
