Data tells the sustainability story

Hog producers strive to raise pigs in a way that produces healthier pigs, healthier people, and a healthier planet every day. However, if producers cannot demonstrate results through data and measurable metrics it is hard to pass that message on to the supply chain, consumers, and even detractors of the pork industry.

Jamie Burr is the chief sustainability officer with the National Pork Board and he says that on-farm data helps hog producers stay on the front foot when pushing back against detractors of the industry.

Sticking with the baseball analogy Burr adds that data from hog farms helps immensely in building partnerships with the supply chain.

Burr says that data from hog farms, which demonstrates how producers raise their pigs through the foundational We Care® Ethical Principles, is invaluable in telling the industry’s story.
