AFBF listening to farmers for 2023 Farm Bill

by | Dec 28, 2022 | 5 Ag Stories, News

When it comes to the 2023 Farm Bill, there?s one thing that farmers have been vocal about: don?t fix what isn?t broken. American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Economist Danny Munch said that many of the previously established programs have worked well for farmers, so the main goal should be to maintain and build upon what is already working well.

As we saw a year ago, there are plenty of things that can happen to farmers- like tornados in December- that just can?t be predicted. But on top of that, Munch said there also has to be consistent risk protection for all crops and commodities.

Munch provided some details on what changes they want to see in dairy coverage specifically.

Munch added that, as more people move into urban areas, the AFBF wants to keep nutrition as a primary focus in the farm bill.
