Syngenta’s PLINAZOLIN technology receives EPA registration

by | Dec 16, 2025 | 5 Ag Stories, News

Syngenta recently announced that PLINAZOLIN technology- the latest insect control tool- received official registration from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The technology is now available for use, subject to state approvals. PLINAZOLIN technology powers five separate insecticides, including Opello, which provides revolutionary control of corn rootworm. Dean Grossnickle, technical development lead with Syngenta, said Opello will help streamline the corn rootworm management process.

Grossnickle said Opello offers a mode of action that is not cross-resistant to other grower-standard insecticides.

Grossnickle said getting a head start with a specific treatment plan is key to managing corn rootworm.

Grossnickle added that the next step is for each state to register Opello insecticide.
