With the government shutdown still dragging on, the grain markets are searching for any news to trade on. While there is no official news on exports, we can still look at the estimates to get a rough idea of what the weekly sales might look like. Allendale commodity broker Greg McBride said the grain markets are still expecting good things out of the corn sales.
On the other hand, McBride said there isn’t much to indicate that there would be an upturn in the soybean sales.
One key headline the markets are looking at is next week’s meeting between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. McBride said we still don’t know everything that will be talked about during that meeting.
Until then, McBride said he expects headline trading to continue in the grain markets.
