The Iowa Food and Family Project is located at the Iowa State Fair on the south side of the Varied Industries building just inside of the atrium. The project gives visitors a chance to learn about the food we consume in Iowa.

The Iowa Food and Family Project is funded by the soybean, pork, beef, egg, corn, turkey, and dairy checkoffs, as well as non-checkoff resources.

Aaron Putze with the Iowa Soybean Association says that the Food and Family Project helps fairgoers learn how food is produced in the state.

The fair brings people of different backgrounds together all in one place and Aaron Putze says that creates a great learning environment.

Putze says that consumers are knowledgeable about the food they eat and are always hungry for more knowledge.

Earlier this month a proclamation was signed by Governor Kim Reynolds proclaiming August Soybean Month in Iowa.
