Michael Dolch, director of public affairs with the Iowa Soybean Association, says that the 2022 Iowa legislative session yielded some very positive results for both Iowa soybean farmers and soy advocates.

Dolch says that one area of policy that yielded positive results in favor of Iowa soybean producers is the push for the expansion of production capability for biofuels.

Dolch says that he expects demand for biodiesel to continue to grow because of the benefits it provides in reducing carbon emissions.

The increasing demand for biodiesel has also lead to an expansion of infrastructure for creating more product.

Michael Dolch says that in 2023 he is interested to see if there will be a push for more funding towards conservation practices continuing the work of Iowa farmers to improve soil health and water quality.

That was Michael Dolch, director of public affairs with the Iowa Soybean Association.
