There are many things that affect our crops as farmers, whether it be drought, major storms, wind, you name it. So, it is essential for farmers to have insurance to protect themselves and their crops. Farm Credit Services of America (FCSA) has a relatively new crop insurance for farmers and producers.
Doug Burns, vice president of insurance for Farm Credit Services of America talks about the Margin Protection Policy on a County Policy basis compared to an Individual Policy basis, or in some cases having both. He also mentions their exclusive software tool that can determine what policies work best for producers.
Farmers are used to many deadlines when it comes to their crops, Burns talks about the September 30th deadline that the Margin Protection has and explains further on why this deadline is so important and why they chose this date for the deadline.
Burns encourages farmers and producers to look into and discuss with an agent at Farm Credit Services about Margin Protection. He mentions a few ways to contact the people and receive information at FCSA.
