Market diversification has become increasingly important in U.S. red meat exports. U.S. Meat Export Federation Chair Pat Binger spoke to USMEF members about this topic at their annual spring conference. Binger, the head of international sales for Cargill Protein North America, noted that the addition of staff in developing markets is paying dividends for the U.S. industry.

The USMEF has also been looking for new and developing opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Binger clarified that this focus on emerging markets is not negatively impacting the top markets. In fact, the new markets can provide support when the top markets falter.
