In a move that is becoming more and more par for the course, THE United States Department of Agriculture has decided to put off making any decision on an important piece of dairy policy, the Federal Milk Marketing Order (FMMO). It has become a far lengthier process than originally planned.
Peter Vitaliano is the National Milk Producers Federation Vice President of Economic Policy & Market Research. He says that even though they are facing delays, progress has been made.
The next hearing is organized around five key proposals.
It’s taking a long time to get to any kind of a vote.
Vitaliano says that the end results far outweigh the time spent in getting the policy modernized.
