As margins become even tighter for producers and challenges become greater, protecting your crops becomes more challenging each year. The United Soybean Board (USB) and the Soy Checkoff took time to highlight multiple practices to keep producers vigilant in the battle against yield-robbing pests, weeds, and diseases. This was the focus when the USB held ?PEST Week?, June 22nd ? 26th.
?PEST? stands for Pest Elimination Strategies and Tactics. The United Soybean Board partnered with university experts, weed scientists, and other advocates to highlight practices to help combat pest, disease, and weed resistance while not sacrificing crop management. Tim Venverloh is the USB Vice President of Sustainability. He talks about the importance of managing resistance and why the soy checkoff is making investments in these areas.
Venverloh says that farmers need to realize that when it comes to looking at alternative management practices, it isn?t that somebody is trying to force you into changing how you farm. These experts are sharing different techniques that could be considered on your operation as an alternative to yield-robbing challenges building up resistance in your fields.
The United Soybean Board is pleased with what they are seeing from the Take Action program It consists of multiple industry partners collaborating to put out unbiased information for producers to consider when they are facing challenges from pests, diseases, and weeds. Venverloh gives us more information on the program.
There is an app available for producers to use. It is available on both Apple and Android devices. You can learn more about the app on the Take Action Network on their website, iwilltakeaction.com.
