This past May, the Smart Carbon Network launched with the mission to bring agriculture, energy, and academic leaders together and raise awareness of the benefits of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies. Since then, they’ve already seen a lot of growth and have spoken with many farmers and rural residents about carbon capture management. Joe Heinrich, Executive Director of the Smart Carbon Network, provided some insight as to what the first few months have been like.
Heinrich said it’s been exciting to see how people appreciate the opportunity to have informative discussions about carbon capture technology.
There’s a lot of emotions that are often tied up in carbon discussions, but Heinrich said they make sure to alleviate concerns and show off how these management practices and technologies are beneficial all around.
Heinrich said there are both short-term and long-term benefits to carbon capture.
Heinrich added that there’s plenty for farmers and rural residents to look forward to in the future of carbon capture management.
