Opportunities increasing for U.S. pork worldwide

One bright spot in the swine industry lately has been the growth and opportunity in the overseas markets. It’s proof that our global pork advocacy efforts are paying off. John Hinners, Senior Vice President of Industry Relations with the U.S. Meat Export Federation, said demand in countries like Mexico has been adding significant value to U.S. pork products.

Hinners said that education has been a huge part of the USMEF’s strategy to bolster demand for pork worldwide.

Another part of increasing demand for pork has been an effort to address specific wants and needs in other countries. During a recent trip to South Korea, Hinners said they noticed an opportunity to use U.S. pork in convenient, ready-made meals.

Hinners added that there is also an interesting opportunity with cafeteria-style dining for employees of large companies.
