Generating more sustainable soy for the future of farming

Sustainability practices are some of the biggest things we are discussing in agriculture right now. We are constantly looking at ways to do better work on protecting our soil, air, and water. Farmers are embracing new ways to do better and make sure that they are passing on a sustainable operation to the next generation. Many groups and companies are offering support and advice to farmers on how to make these practices work and take advantage of the incentives offered to farmers.

Laurie Isley is the United Soybean Board Communication and Education Committee Chair, and she talks about the precision farming practices that farmers are using to get the most out of their soybeans all across the country.

Some soils are sandier, and Isley talks about how cover crops and year-round cropping are helping conservation practices in those areas as well.

Isley said that the soy checkoff, which is powered by America’s soybean farmers, is investing those dollars into research education, and promotion in the effort to get farmers a larger return on the investment of those dollars.
