The U.S. Meat Export Federation, along with U.S. beef industry leaders, is on a global trip to see how U.S. beef is performing abroad. The trip included stops in Korea and Japan- two countries that have become great destinations for specialty cuts, among other products. Corrine Rowe, treasurer of the board of directors for the Iowa Beef Council, said the trip in Korea started off with some great Korean barbeque.

The second leg of the trip went to Japan, where beef specialty cuts have some increased opportunity to thrive.

The foodservice sector has been growing impressively in both countries, and Rowe said that they are very interested in serving U.S. beef.

This trip was also great for finding things from abroad to bring back to the U.S. While there are some restaurants that serve it already, Rowe said there are plenty of opportunities for Korean barbeque to get a foothold in the U.S.
