FBN helping farmers leverage new revenue streams

When it comes to the psychology of agriculture it is important to worry about what you can control. The seed you select, the chemicals you apply, and when you eat lunch are all within your control. The weather, ag policy changes, and commodity prices are all outside of your control.

That is why it is important for farmers to diversify their income streams and take advantage of the latest sustainable farm programs that provide an economic benefit. In 2023 substantial numbers of farmers were able to take advantage of sustainability programs that reward climate-smart practices in agriculture and are offered through Farmers Business Network’s Gradable platform.

That is Kurt Alles, head of sustainability at FBN.

Alles says that sustainability programs are available through the FBN platform right now for 2024.

Alles says that farmers will continue to be rewarded for their climate smart agriculture practices this year with programs offered by ADM.

Another partnership from FBN that continues to grow is the relationship with POET. FBN and POET tripled the number of participating facilities in programs for 2023, which offer incentives up to $.04 per bushel for emissions scoring for corn across South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota.
