In January of this year, Farmers Business Network and Greeneye Technology announced a long-term strategic collaboration to help farmers control weeds and reduce input costs. The AI precision ag spraying technology of Greeneye and the crop protection and nutrition inputs from FBN can now work in tandem to help farmers save money.
After initially working together as research partners, Farmers Business Network is now an investor of Greeneye Technology and a commercial partner. Ben Harms is the chief strategy officer at FBN and he says the partnership was established in January of 2023.
He says Greeneye Technology provides retrofit sprayer technology which can outfit a farmer?s existing sprayer and can save the grower money by using less fertilizer and crop protection products.
Greeneye also provides support for its spraying technology making sure that the system is not down for long if a problem is encountered.
A field trial undertaken by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?s Agricultural Research Division (ARD) last summer found that the Greeneye system:
Showed a 94% reduction in burndown herbicide use during pre-emergence spraying compared to broadcast application.
Showed an 87% reduction in non-residual herbicide use during post-emergence spraying compared to broadcast application.
Represented an overall cost saving to farmers of more than 60% while achieving the same, or similar, levels of efficacy compared to broad spraying.
