Practical Farmers of Iowa and the Iowa Soybean Association offer their Cover Crop Business Accelerator (CCBA) program to support cover crop adoption in the Midwest. The program is now in its fifth year, and it helps new and emerging cover crop businesses with the seed and application services they need to reach their conservation goals. Ross McCaw, a CCBA participant and farmer from Marengo, talked about why he started his cover crop business.

McCaw said the CCBA program helped him with the financial side of running his cover crop business, especially when it came to advertising.

McCaw added that not only is his business promoting healthy soil practices, but it’s also keeping more business in his local community.

Applications for the CCBA program are now open and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis with priority for beginning farmers. To apply, visit practicalfarmers.org/cover-crop-business-accelerator-program.
