Agritourism app on the way to provide education

by | Jul 22, 2022 | 5 Ag Stories, News

Telling the story of American Agriculture has been necessary for years, especially as we have become more connected on the internet. False information is spouted as truthful data, and consumers don?t know what to think. It has taken some time to find producers and those involved in the Ag industry to be proactive and tell the story of farming in America.

Agritourism has been one of those ways to help tell the story. It is not a new concept. There have been apple orchards and pumpkin patches for decades. However, as the need for more accurate information has arisen, the need to upgrade how we share our story has also changed.

The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture is developing a new app called the American Farm Trail. The Foundation?s Executive Director Daniel Meloy says the app will connect users to agritourism locations.

The app will interface with the user?s geolocation. This means that they will be shown locations in proximity to them. Any farm or agritourism location, that is welcoming visitors, is encouraged to submit their info.
