The Crop Science division of Bayer announced a new strategy midway through 2023 bringing together 10 regional seed brands under the umbrella of the new enhanced Channel® seed brand. Chris Smith is an area business manager for the new Channel® seed brand and he says the new Channel seed formed at the halfway point of 2023.
Smith says the multiple brands being brought together under one platform makes for a wealth of new technologies working together.
Smith says that growers who have previously purchased seed from one of the 10 regional brands that now make up Channel seed will still be able to work with the people that they have built relationships with.
He says the volatility of this year’s growing season shows the value of having a deep seed portfolio with various technologies and options for growers that have been formulated through research and development.
Smith says that there were several hybrids under the Channel seed brand that performed above and beyond expectations in 2023 specifically in regard to drought tolerance.
