As consumers, we rely on having a strong supply of vegetables, fruits, and other products to serve on our tables. However, for some producers, the challenges of getting their goods in front of consumers can be daunting. It takes financial backing to get the companies and farms rolling. That is why the USDA is working to provide more funding for specialty crop producers.
USDA Undersecretary Jenny Lester Moffitt talks about why it is important to make sure these producers have the support they need.
Moffit says that these specialty producers are facing challenges from climate and sustainability issues.
According to Moffitt, this is just the beginning of what can be done to help specialty crop producers. There will be a live, online event on March 8th to allow producers to have their voices heard at USDA.
