The newest sustainability practices can be confusing or intimidating to some farmers, so it’s important for companies to make the technology easy to use and to understand. James Shurts, president of the ag division at Great Plains Manufacturing, said they’ve been at the forefront of sustainable ag practices for quite some time, so they are in a position to help farmers know how to farm more sustainably.
In this effort, Great Plains partnered with Bayer and their ForGround program to help farmers transition into sustainable agriculture and take advantage of the many carbon market opportunities. Shurts said they are in an advisory role within the program.
Shurts added that they look forward to expanding that relationship even further this year with more studies and trials.
