Every year, farmers engage in a heated battle with weeds. There are many different strategies they can use, but one of the more effective ones is targeted application. This minimizes the inputs required to keep those weeds under control. However, it also requires a lot of work to constantly analyze those fields for weed outbreaks. To help with that, Solinftec has been working on a fully autonomous solar-powered sprayer. Taylor Wetli of Solinftec said the sprayer will continuously go through and analyze the field to keep track of weed and crop conditions.
Wetli said this sprayer allows for earlier weed management and also cuts down on input costs.
Of course, a full weed management plan is still required with this sprayer. Wetli said it?s designed to be used to maintain fields after pre-emergence residual applications.
Wetli added that the sprayer is over six feet tall, so it will comfortably fit over crops as it runs. For more information, visit solinftec.com.
