Mark Muench, a corn and soybean farmer near Ogden, realized a little more than a decade ago that tillage hadn?t improved over 40 years when compared to the rest of the agriculture industry. When Muench found Salford tillage equipment in 2009 and used it on his own farm, he found it to be far superior to other options after some initial skepticism.
In the fall of 2012, Muench became a Salford equipment dealer, running the business out of his farm shop, and he sold his first machine in 2013. Today, his dealership, Muench AgriSolutions, is Iowa?s largest for the Canadian-owned manufacturer, with a plant in Osceola, Iowa. Muench said it was rough at first, but the journey has been satisfying.
Muench said the efficiency from Salford?s vertical tillage equipment has been hugely beneficial so far.
Since vertical tillage is fairly new to many farmers, Muench said they take a hands-on approach to finding what works best for each farm.
Another key is the advantage Salford tillage equipment has in adverse conditions. Muench said he enjoys how it creates a nice seedbed without causing damage to the soil, like crusting or compaction.
Muench said he?s also proud to be providing good jobs and creating some economic development through his dealership.
Muench added that he encourages any interested farmers to give Salford equipment a try.
