Spring has brought some widespread rainfall across the state, but that doesn’t mean the drought is completely over yet. In fact, we could even see an expansion of drought conditions in certain areas. Iowa State Climatologist Dr. Justin Glisan provided an update on the latest climatological patterns.
Fortunately, Glisan said the water from those recent rainfalls is keeping the soil from freezing too hard.
Glisan said we?ll have an interesting time with planting this year, because even though we have a drier weather signal, those cooler temperatures are going to stick around for a while.
Earlier this week, you might?ve also seen some beautiful colors dancing across the sky. Glisan explained what exactly the Aurora Borealis is and why we were able to see it this far south.
Glisan added that flood concerns will be on the mind in eastern Iowa, especially in the Quad City region.
