A couple days ago Harold and I took our lab puppy (Nala) on a walk. She hasn’t been walked much because 30 something degrees isn’t our favorite walking season.
Because of her lack of experience with walking on a leash, she is awful at it.
She pulled, she huffed, puffed, and fought back.
Honestly, I was shocked that she was still breathing at the end because she was fighting Harold so hard.
We don’t put Nala on a leash to punish her. We put her on a leash because we love her, we want to keep her close, and we want her to stay out of trouble.
As I was replaying this funny scene in my head,I began to wonder how often we act like Nala.
I think Jesus wants to do the same thing with us. He loves us. He wants us close. He knows if we walk closely with Him we will better keep ourselves out of trouble.
Often times, we pull, argue, and fight to get away so that we can walk on our own.
He’s not punishing us, instead he’s really loving us.
Are you fighting to get away from walking with Jesus, or you embracing the joy of walking close beside Him?
Prayer: “God, thank you that you pull me close and want me to stay beside you. Help me to walk as close as I possibly can to you daily. In your name I pray, Amen.”
