United States Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack says that everyone is on the same page with the goal of getting a new five-year farm bill done. However, he also says that time is getting tight for the completion of a new farm bill and is calling for all sides to have a practical view in working towards a bipartisan bill.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says that both sides of Congress agree that an updated farm bill is needed.
However, Secretary Vilsack told reporters last week that time is running short.
Vilsack says that the House version of the farm bill features a lot of support for farm programs but does not have the money to pay for it.
He says that before lawmakers can pass a bill, they need to decrease the spending levels in the proposed bill to more practical levels.
That was United States Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack.
