USDA provides publicly available resources to farmers

USDA reports can be a very valuable resource for hog producers. Lee Schulz, chief economist with Ever.Ag, says fundamentals are key when digging through publicly available data.

Dr. Schulz points to additional market pressures, including changes in the World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates, and particularly export data that could influence future trade decisions.

In future reports, Schulz says they will examine more annual snapshots, such as the livestock annual slaughter summary.

The official balance sheet for the year will be published on April 29th. The report offers a key reset point along with state-level data highlighting the hog and pork sector’s impact across the country. For more information visit www.nass.usda.gov
