US pork producers learn about ASF from EU counterparts

While we have been fortunate to keep African Swine Fever (ASF) out of our country, it doesn?t mean we can let our guard down. It also means it is imperative that we do all we can to learn from those who have already gone through the battle. We can understand the lessons that they had to learn the hard way.

Recently members of the National Pork Board and National Pork Producers Council traveled to Europe to learn from those who have already battled this terrible disease. Jesse Heimer is with the National Pork Board, and he talks about the trip.

Heimer says the biggest eye-opener was that each country in Europe had its own reaction plans, and it did a lot more harm than good.

Heimer gives us an example of how those differences between two countries at random.
