With tariffs and trade news dominating the ag headlines in recent weeks it might feel like the passage of a new five-year farm bill has been moved to the back burner.
However, that is not the case for the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture. RJ Karney is the Senior Director of Public Policy with NASDA and he says the farm bill is still top of mind for both NASDA and ag leadership in Congress.
Karney acknowledges there are political headwinds and says the first major issue is keeping the government operating.
Karney says another means to move farm initiatives forward is through reconciliation.
