Christie Wiebbecke is the chief officer of research and conservation at Iowa Soybean Association and she says that the three areas of the research center for farming innovation at Iowa Soybean work together to get the most out of their research.
Wiebbecke says that specialty soybeans have become a more popular option for growers in Iowa in recent growing seasons, but the infrastructure for those specialty beans needs to be in place for farmers.
She says soybean breeding has come a long way through research and development but there is still a lot of room for growth and innovation to continue to make improvements.
Utilizing local sources of knowledge to ensure that farmers select the correct traits for their operation and employ the best management practices can make a big difference, says Wiebbecke.
