The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) is holding its 62nd Annual Board of Delegates meeting in Sacramento, CA this week. They are talking about market growth, the geopolitical situation, and much more. Friend of the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network, Susan Littlefield of KRVN and the Rural Radio Network in Nebraska, joined me this morning to talk about some of the things she?s been seeing and hearing at the meetings.
Littlefield told us about how much focus is on the geopolitical aspect of the meetings, especially as it pertains to Ukraine and Russia. They had the chance to hear from a woman who fled Ukraine with her children.
As we wait to find out if grains can be exported out of the country, it is ready to go and has been for some time.
Littlefield also heard that there is much hesitation by export companies to bring ships into the mined ports, even with an agreement. Insurance policies have been offered, but some companies don?t feel that is even worth the risk.
The US Grains Council meetings wrap up this week.
